CASE SUMMARY
Case 18-038 is a request for a major variance to allow an existing deck to remain and act as a larger landing for the stairway that provides access to the house.

According to the applicants, they removed a large amount of garbage from a hole where the deck is located. The deck was then constructed over the hole to prevent future trash accumulations and to expand the landing at the first-floor level. The expanded landing provides a staging area for items being moved in and out of the upper unit so as not to interfere with access to the lower unit. The location of the deck was also chosen to take advantage of a natural break in the stairs.
